Not every day you stumble upon someone really nice.
After a tiring journey to Chennai, took a quick shower and went to A2B restaurant near Guindy for my breakfast. It was bustling with customers in the morning. I was checking around to find a seat.
A middle aged married couple was trying to make their kids eat, college teens behind me enjoying Iman Esmail's graceful moments in Tum Tum reels(still?), a lovely French couple was deliberating their tour plans for the day with a map. It was almost full.
"Bro, take the seat, we are leaving", the teens said before melting away.
Bro?
Slowly getting used to being bro-ed

There are two important decisions to make.
I was pondering whether to include a slide in the deck that I was working yesterday night for the customer presentation and should I ask for one more bowl of puthina chutney to the waiter as he was not particularly friendly.
I was eating the idlies and did notice an elderly old woman in her mid sixties who sat in my table.
She gave a warm smile.
"I will be back. Would you mind to tell this seat is taken if someone comes"
I nodded and continued with my breakfast.
She came back after few minutes with her husband who was in early seventies.
She took three glasses, poured water from the jug, moved one towards me, one to her husband & one towards her in the same order.
I looked up and smiled.
"Ma'am, it may be a small act, but it's a big gesture on your part. Very kind of you"
"Wouldn't your mother be doing the same?".
Barriers broken, got to know they are from Palakkad, his son is working in Intel in a senior leadership position in BLR and their daughter's family is in Chennai.

We were chatting on a wide range of topics.
"Did you see Ponniyin Selvan Ma'am"
"He didn't take me to the movie", she said, pointing her husband.
She spoke very softly with a warmth in her words.
"Well, not sure if a Ph.D in Economics will like the movie and she is more interested in going to temples than watching a movie", he said with a chuckle.
"Ph.D in Economics?"
She smiled & nodded.
"He knows that I love this story & he read Kalki's book"
"I was planning to take her for our wedding anniversary but seems it is already there in OTT. We will watch together"
All I can see is only love, understanding and a beautiful couple aging gracefully together.
Thank you Sampoorani Ammal-mam,Subramani-sir for the wonderful conversation and the coffee.
You two made my day.
