Oracle interview and eight queen problem

It was not a pleasant morning.It was very hot and humid.Typical
Madras. A saturday in mid November.The Metro bus we boarded from
Velacherry  to go to the Govt. public school near Mylapore was 
really crowded. The bus conductor scolded us in chennai slang for
not buying tickets since we were in deep discussion on a topic and
we forgot to buy ticket. Added to that,the frustration of not in a 
job was really high and the morale was not at its peak.

And the debate was still inconclusive.. whether to go to Shajahan,
the newly released Vijay movie or to take the written test for
Oracle interview.Views are really polarised.Umanath,being Vijay fan, 
wanted to go to the movie. I am sure,the movie will not be good
and at least wanted to take the written test.Ravi wanted to take
the test.Jayaraj,Karumbayiram,Periyasamy and Rajesh will be 
joining us near the school.

The first thing that hit us was the huge crowd that we saw infront
of the school.More than thousand fresh graduates and everyone is 
there to get the job.The intake will be not more than 20.
Odds are clearly stacked against us.I decided to support 
Umanath's plan.But the decision was finally made,Umanath and I 
were coerced to take up the test.

It is me who came-up with a strategic plan to clear the
written test.Jayaraj and Ravi will solve aptitude and C questions,
Periyasamy and Rajesh will solve other sections in the test.
Karubayiram,Umanath and I will co-ordinate marking-up answers
among the group.

Vithi valiyathu..!

Except me, all of my friends cleared the written test.

The interview was scheduled in the afternoon in Sun centre in
Eldams road and only the folks who have cleared the written test
were allowed inside.But I was dragged to the big lobby by my 
friends since they needed morale support and some entertainment..!

There were some 100-odd candidates shortlisted for interview and
some half  of them were seen in the big lobby.
Can see people in different moods..anxious,stressed,deep thinking..
The mood in the hall was sombre.

But not for us.All of my friends were kind of confident that
they will not clear the interview and hence there is no fear. 
But, the topics ranged from  how to spend the first month salary 
to where to party and commenting about the students coming 
out of the interview.

There is only one feeling you have whenever you come out of any 
interview and that is sickness.I can see that in every one's face.
But people coming from the  interview panel situated near the main
entrance door were more perturbed. Reason being..the question 
that is asked.

How may possible ways you can arrange eight queens in the  chess 
broad, with out each crossing the other!

"Well,this is not fair.We never ever heard any question which is 
remotely related to chess in our curriculum"-this is me.

"How is this related to the job"--Ravi.

"Guys,this might be related to game theory and I have come-across
this question somewhere,algorithm might be simple, I forgot"-Jayaraj

"Logically speaking we cant have 8 queens in a chess board, 
I seriously question the validity of the question"--Rajesh

"Folks, you were just one-step away from the job and now some silly 
question about some queens in a chess board..."-its me again..

"How am I supposed to answer some complex game theory question
at the tender age of 21..? life is not at all fair"--Karumbayiram.

Suddenly everyone is worried.

Karumbayiram and Periyasamy were dumbstruck, while Umanath was 
seriously pondering over something which is really unusual given 
the circumstances.

"Guys..relax..will find a solution,lets do it methodically.."
Every one's focus is now on Umanath.I was not keen because 
I know him.

"Arranging 8 queens, in a chess board..hmmm...interesting"

Everyone nodded..!!

"And there are 64 squares in the board..hmmm..guys,ever read of 
lateral thinking"

And then he gave a pause,all of our eyes were on him..

"What if we say we don't know chess,never seen that board in our 
life time, interviewer will be in fix. we can skip that question.."

There was a momentary silence,disbelief and then an  instant 
elebration. Karumbayiram was the first to go and hug Umanath for his 
out-of-box thinking..! Even I am impressed.

Karumbayiram was the next to be called to the same "Eight queen" 
interview panel..

After some 30 minutes..he came back..Saw Umanath with as  much 
menace as he could possibly muster.Didn't speak a word. We finally
pacified  him and asked what happened  so that we could correct 
our mistakes.

"Aarambathula nalla thaan machhi poitirunthathu interview..."

"hmmm, then.."

"then he asked me that eight queen problem..I told them that I dont
know chess, even sweared to god that I dont know chess"

"appuram.."

"that fat guy in the panel told me that..there is no need to
know chess, assume there are 64 squares in a board,you can move a 
piece of stone or wood in all possible  directions,say horizontally,
vertically,diagonally.. now, the question is how many ways can you
arrange eight pieces in  such a way  that each piece doesn't cross 
the other and asked me to write an algorithm.when I was about to swear
to god that I didn't  understand, he told me that even his 2nd std 
studying student can understand this  question"

Periayaswamy was the next to be called to the same panel.

It has just stopped raining.The after-rain pleasant smell was
there. There was a gentle breeze.It was a pleasant evening.We were
sipping tea in a road-side tea-shop near Gemini flyover.Periyasamy
told that we need to prepare to  clear the interviews.Karumbayiram,
Jayaraj and Periyasamy  wanted to go to Anna university to stay in
thier juniors hostel. Rajesh will be going to his home. Ravi,Umanath
and I were  planning to go to Ravi's anna's  home in Velacherry.
Everyone is waiting for the next bus to come.
Everyone is waiting for the next interview  to clear.
Seems ppl do believe in hope.

Jayaraj cleared the interview and joined Oracle,Hyderabad.

with disinformation and will certainly spill venom on Tamil tigers.

Provide the information hungry Indian media

More than 20,000 civilians were killed in the final months of war.
The remaining doctors and ICRC members say unimaginable humanitarian catastrophe is happening in Mullivaikal.Thousands killed in Mullivaikal in the final days of war.They are just numbers.Huh..perfecting the art of genocide!

Herd 3 lakh tamil people behind the barbed wires in internment camps.Human rights?What human rights?When the whole world watched the genocide of tamils, who will give a damn
about 3 lakh tamil people in internment camps.

கல்யாணம் வாழ்க்கையில் ஒரு சுவாரஸ்யமான அனுபவம்,எனக்கும் அப்படியே.புதுக் கணவன்,புதிய உறவுகள்,புதிய அனுபவம் மட்டுமில்லாமல்,புதிய நாடும்.முதல் விமானப் பயணம்.புதுத் தாலி மஞ்சள் நிறத்தில் எடுப்பாக இருந்தது.மார்பில் பட்டு குறுகுறுத்தது.ஏர்போர்ட்டிலும் அம்மா அதையே சொன்னாள்.

"மூணாவது மாசத்தில் மறக்காம தாலிய கழட்டி மாத்தனும்டீ,சுகன்யாக்கிட்ட கேட்டு தெரிஞ்சிக்கிட்டல"

"இதோட பத்தாவது முறையா சொல்லிட்டமா, எனக்கு தெரியும்மா"

அப்பாதான் கண்கலங்கினார்.அம்மா அழுத்தமானவள்,எல்லாவற்றையும் மனதில் வைத்துக்கொள்வாள்.

"நியுலி மாரிட்?, யூ ஆர் லுக்கிங் கார்ஜியஸ் இன் திஸ் அட்டயர்",

என்றாள்.வெட்கப் பூரிப்பில் தாங்க்ஸ் என்றேன்.

அரை மணி நேர கார் பயணத்திற்கு பின், அமைதியான சப்-அர்ப்பில்,ஓடு வேயப்பட்டஅழகான வீட்டின் முன் கார் நின்றது.ரகு தான் வீட்டை திறந்தான்.சூட்கேஸ்களை எடுத்துவந்தான்.நான் பிரமித்து நின்றேன்.அப்படியே கைகளை கட்டிக்கொண்டு, புதுக் காற்றை சுவாசித்தேன்.சூரியனின் இளஞ்சூட்டையும்,குளிரையும் ஒருசேர ரசித்தேன்.

பிப்ரவரி மாதத்தின் அழகான ஒரு மாலைப் பொழுது அது.வரவேற்க உற்றார், உறவினர் இல்லை.ஆரத்தி எடுக்க யாரும் இல்லை.

"வெல்கம் புதுப்பொண்டாட்டி.இது தான் நீ இருக்கப் போகும் குட்டி அரண்மனை"-என்று அரண்மனை சேவகன் போல் தலை சாய்த்து வரவேற்றான்.வலது கால் எடுத்து வைத்து நுழைந்தேன்.இந்த... இந்த... தருணம் சந்தோசமானது. எல்லா புதுப்பெண்ணும் இ ந்த தருணத்தின் இனிமையை நிச்சயம் அனுபவித்து இருப்பீர்கள்!!

புதுப்புடவை சரசரக்க,கை வளையல் சிணுங்க,புதுத்தாலி மார்பில் அழுந்த,என்னை இழுத்து,அணைத்து ஆத்மார்த்தமாக நெற்றியில் முத்தமிட்டு,காதலுடன் உதட்டைக் கடந்து, அப்புறம் அந்த புதுத்தேடலை,அந்த புது அனுபவத்தை,கொஞ்ச கொஞ்சமாய்...இந்த தருணத்தையும்....!!உடை சரி செய்துக் கொண்டு,ரகுவிடம் இருந்து விடுவித்துக்கொண்டு, சாளரம் திறந்து அழகான தோட்டத்தை ரசித்தேன்.பெயர் தெரியாத அந்த பறவை "கீச் கீச்" என்று என்னை அழைத்தது.சந்தோசம் திகட்டியது.அதிகாலை வானத்தை ஓவியமாக வரைந்தது போல்,வாழ்க்கை அழகாக இருக்கிறது.

"ஷ்ராவனி, உனக்காக நான் போட்ட முதல் காஃபி"-என ஒரு கோப்பையை என்னிடம் நீட்டினான்.

ரகு அலுவலகம் சென்றவுடன்,வீட்டை சுத்தம் செய்வேன்.வீட்டிற்கு அம்மாவிடம் போன் பேசுவேன்,தஞ்சாவூரில் இருக்கும்,சுகன்யா அக்காவிடமும்,சாஹம்பரியிடமும் பேசுவேன்.கொஞ்சம் டிவி பார்ப்பேன்.கொஞ்சம் அழுவேன்.

வார விடுமுறையில் லண்டன் முருகன் கோவில் போவோம். முருகனிடம் என்ன வேண்டிக்கொண்டாய் என்று கேட்டு உயிர் எடுப்பான்.இரவு ஈஸ்ட் ஹாம் சரவண பவனில் சாப்பிடுவோம்.ரகுவிற்கு பிடித்தது எது,பிடிக்காதது எது என கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக தெரிந்துக்கொள்கிறேன்.காரில் போகும் போது "உன் சிரிப்பினில்"-பச்சைகிளி முத்துச்சரம் பாடல் ரசித்துக் கேட்கிறான்.அடிக்கடி என்னைப் பார்த்து முணு முணுக்கிறான்.எண்பதுகளில் வந்த இளையராஜா பாடல் விரும்பிக்கேட்கிறான்.ஏர்டெல் சூப்பர் சிங்கரில் வரும் ராகிணிஸ்ரீ-யை ரசிக்கிறான்.அவள் உன்னை விட அழகு என என்னை வம்பிற்கு இழுக்கிறான்.மான்செஸ்டர் யுனைட்டட் அணியை சப்போர்ட் செய்கிறான்.சில சமயம் கொஞம் பியர்.கார்டன் ராம்சே சமையலையும்,எக்ஸ்-பேக்டார் நிகழ்ச்சிகளையும் அவனுடன் சேர்ந்து நானும் பார்க்க ஆரம்பித்திருக்கிறேன்.

சிலசமயம் அவனுடைய நெருங்கிய நண்பர்களின் பார்ட்டிக்கு அழைத்து செல்கிறான்.டான்ஸ் ப்ளோரில் எல்லோருடனும் டான்ஸ் ஆடுகிறான்.ஒருமுறை,தனியே நின்று அவனை ரசித்துக்கொண்டிருந்த என்னை , இழுத்து,இடை பற்றி, அந்த மங்கிய வெளிச்சத்தில்,மனோகரமாய் சிரித்து,காதருகே கிசுகிசுத்தான்,

"ஷ்ராவனி உன்னைப் போல் அழகான ஒரு பெண் குழந்தை வேண்டும்", என்று.

இது ஏகாந்தம்.இது எனக்கு வாழ்வின் உன்னதம்.

பாரதி சொன்னது போல எத்தனைக் கோடி இன்பம் வைத்தாய் இறைவா!!

நான் லண்டனில், எனது கணவனோடு சந்தோஷமாகவே இருக்கிறேன்.என்னை விட்டு பிரிந்த காதலனும்,அவனது மனைவியோடு சந்தோஷமாகவே இருப்பான்.ஏறக்குறைய சந்தோஷமாகவே இருப்பான்!!

How to know you are in late 20's

Its good that initially for first one week there was no internet connection in our new house when we moved in.

Even though it was difficult without net I was happily reading Sujatha's Sujathoughts.

Therez an interesting article.How to know you are in late 20's.

Some of the points below are "inspired"(no, no not copied..!) from that article.

1.The cricketers/heros you worshipped and the actress you were crazy about

would have been consigned to oblivion.Your college going cousins will remind

you of the latest sensation in cricket/movie industry.

2.Your priorities would have changed.You have more things to worry about in life

than following the latest Ashes tour or watching the latest movie.

3.For people who are married some 5 or 6 years back,career and

family will be looming heavily over your shoulders,sex might have taken back seat

and for people who are about to get married it will be different.

4.You realise the importance of MONEY.

5.You understand the burden of responsibility,say,when you get married or

when your first child is born or When your father discuss an important family decision with you.

No matter what, you cant escape this.Responsibility will be thrusted upon you.

6.You would have certainly lost your innocence.

Say,after the betrayal from your relatives/acquaintances.

7.You would have met some people who are really nice leaving behind sweet memories.

8.You understand that life is a roller-coaster ride,sometimes fairness is a fairytale and not always

the most deserved will win.

9.Your thought process would have been honed,some of your long held beliefs would be shaken to the core.

Federer can be beaten!England can win a Ashes test against Australia..!!

Anyone remember Hansie Cronje's match fixing scandel and the ignominious end..?

10.The sheer fun of getting into an argument,fight would have subdued.

11.You realise one can easily get away with "anything" provided if they are powerful.

Anything applies to everything that you can think of.

Didn't Mahinda Rajapakse went scot-free after carrying out a genocide of huge magnitude?

Am always fascinated by John lennon's "Imagine" and "Give peace a chance"
The sheer attraction of the numbers,the demi god status the Beatles enjoyed
during their hey days even though there is nothing called as internet made me
to visit The Beatles Mueseum in Liverpool.There seems to be always an idiosyncrasy
associated with artistic geniuses.Although I really cant imagine the state of mind
John Lennon was when he said, "we(Beatles) are bigger than christ",seems its true
fame can make you go crazy.When you can make the worlds powerful man and
woman your fans and make people cry in hysteria,you seem to be in a unique
state of mind. When a reporter asked him how he expected to die, he replied,
'I'll probably be popped off by some loony.' Two decades later,he was killed by
a deranged person outside the Dakota building in New York at the age of 40.

I remember Subramanya Bharathi's Yoga Mandiram
"....Kilaparuvameithi....pala veedikkai manitharai poole naan veelven endru ninaithaya"
and Kurt Cobain's suicide note,"It is better to burn out than to fade away"
Read the above lines once again.Got the sub-text?
Both the geniuses died young.

Okaay.

I used to watch many TV programs regularly..but many of them kind of dropped off my radar.
Lost interest in Vijay TV's Super singer after Raginisri's elimination,
but kept watching since I liked Prasanna,Karthick and Renu.

Now-a-days, I make it a point to watch Neeya Naana program in Vijay TV.
I like Gopinath's tamil.Anbu vanakkangal,nenchaarntha nandrikal.Sweet.
The production team seems to have the talent of choosing very interesting topics
for discussion.Last week it was..How the family members will behave/be...
when appa is at home and when he is not at home.
It was very interesting to watch...as usual.I was laughing all through the program.
We can identify ourself in many of the points that were discussed.
By the way who is that beautiful senorita in rose color Chudithaar...!!

Happen to watch a YouTube video.Was mesmerised by the music.
Although I cannot really understand the kannada lyrics,the song was
really really awesome.The 1980's streets and landscape of bangalore...
the stylish subtle romance captured in the song sequence..guess what..
this is Maniratnam's first movie,music composed by..who else..
God of Music.

தற்போது அறிமுகப்படுத்தப் படும் 3G, WCDMA(Wide band Code Division Multiple Access) தொழில் நுட்ப வகையைச் சார்ந்தது. GSM 2G-யில் ஒவ்வொரு வாடிக்கையாளருக்கும் ஒரு அலைவரிசையில் ஒரு கால அளவு ஒதுக்கப்படும். 3G WCDMA-வில் ஒவ்வொரு வாடிக்கையாளரும் அதே அலைவரிசையை பயன்படுத்தினாலும் ஒவ்வொரு இலக்கம்(code) ஒதுக்கப்படும்.

டில்லி-யில் MTNL எற்கனவே 3G-யை சில பகுதிகளில் அறிமுகப்படுத்தியுள்ளது. சென்னையில் BSNL கடந்த பிப்ரவரி மாதத்தில் 3G-யை அறிமுகப்படுத்தியது. நோக்கியா,சாம்சங்,மொடோரொலா,சோனி எரிக்சன்,எல்.ஜி போன்ற கம்பனிகள் தற்போது பெருமளவில் 3G போன்களை விற்பனை செய்தாலும், ஆப்பிளின் 3G ஐ-போன் அதனுடைய சிறப்பம்சம்களுக்காக நல்ல வரவேற்பை பெற்றுள்ளது. உங்களது 3G போன், 3G சேவை இல்லாத இடத்தில் 2G தொழில் நுட்பத்தில் வேலை செய்யும்.

Please ask your Parents/friends/relatives not to vote for
Congress,DMK and its allies who are complicit in the genocide of tamils in Srilanka.
It will be a greater sin if we vote for congress,DMK or its allies in this election.

Ask them to vote for ppl whom they think will save the tamils.
It might be AIADMK and its ally or use your good judgement to vote
for the candidate in your constituency, but please never vote for
the congress candidate who have got blood in their hands.

UN estimates say atleast 8000 people would have got killed by SL army
in the last 3 months.Yesterday itself some 2000 people were killed by
the genocidal srilanka government with the help of indian congress government.

Had TN CM Karunanidhi withdrawn support during last deepavali(his first enacted drama),
congress government would have gone and atleast the number of people being killed
with the help of Indian government would have reduced.
He back-stabbed tamils by not doing anything, inspite of being in power.

And this lady from italy should atleast think that people being killed as human beings
if not tamils.

For ppl who live outside tamilnadu, please call up your parents/friends
and realtives and ask them not to vote for the congress which is directly involved
in the genocide of tamils.You need not be a tamil to do this.As a human being, it is

லண்டனில் 2 லட்சத்திற்கும் அதிகமான மக்கள் பேரணியில் திரண்டனர்.

உடனடியானதும் நிரந்தரமானதுமான போர்நிறுத்தத்தை வலியுறுத்தி பிரித்தானியா வாழ் தமிழ் மக்கள் மீண்டும் ஒரு முறை தேம்ஸ் நதியோர வீதிகளை மக்கள் வெள்ளத்தால் நிரப்பி மாபெரும் பேரணி ஒன்றை நிகழ்த்தி உள்ளனர்.

பிரித்தானியாவின் சகல பாகங்களிலும் வாழும் தமிழ் மக்கள் லன்டனின் மையப்பகுதியில் நண்பகலில் கூடிவிட்டனர்.வன்னி மக்களின் அவலங்களை மனதினில் சுமந்தும் அதனைச் சித்தரிக்கும் படங்களை கைகளில் சுமந்தும் மக்கள் ஒருவகைச் சோகமும் கோபமும் கொண்ட எழுச்சியோடு கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

தாம் பயணிக்கும் போதே சிறு சிறு குழுக்களாக தமது கோரிக்கைகளை முழக்கமிட்டு வந்த மக்கள் பேரணியின் மையநீரோட்டத்தில் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.உடனடிப்போர் நிறுத்தம் , இல்லையேல் இலங்கைமீது தடைகளை கொண்டுவரவேண்டும் , இறுதித்தீர்வு இருவேறு நாடுகள் என்ற கோஷங்களை பெரும்பாலும் முழங்கிய வண்ணம் மக்கள் அணி அணியாக

சென்றனர். இந்தியாவின் மீது கசப்புணர்வுகளை கொப்பளிக்கும் வாசகங்களும் முழக்கங்களும் பெரும்பாலும் காணப்பட்டன. இலங்கைப் பெருட்களை வாங்க வேண்டாம் அது உங்கள் கைகளை இரத்தம் தோய்ந்ததாக்குகின்றது என்று மக்கள் கோஷமிட்டனர். பல இனமக்கள் இப்பேரணியில் கலந்து கொண்டனர். பேரிகைகள் , வாத்தியங்கள் சகிதம் வெள்ளையினத்தவர்கள் பலர் இலங்கை அரசின் இனப்படுகொலைக் கெதிராக பெருமுழக்கமிட்டது இப்பேரணியின் மிகச்சிறப்பான அம்சமாகும்.

தழிழீழ தேசியக் கொடி , தேசியத்தலைவரின் படம் என்பன பல ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பின்னர் பிரித்தானியப் பேரணியைப் பெரிதும் அலங்கரித்திருந்தது. பிரித்தானியச் சட்டங்கள் தற்போது இவ்விடையத்தில் வளைந்து கொடுக்காது என்றாலும் காவல் துறையினர் மென்போக்கை கடைப்பிடித்தனர். எதுவித அசம்பாவிதங்கலும் கைதுகளும் அற்ற இந்த மாபெரும் பேரணி நீண்ட நேரப்பயணத்தின் பின்னர் ஹைட் பார்க் மைதானத்தை மாலையில் வந்தடைந்தது.

அகவணக்கத்துடன் பொதுக்கூட்டம் ஆரம்பமானது. தழிழ் இளையோர் அமைப்பின் சார்பாக பேசிய

செல்வி. ராஜி , தமது சகாக்களின் உண்ணா விரத போராட்டம் தொடர்பாக எடுத்து விளக்கினார்.

அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து உரை ஆற்றிய பிரித்தானிய பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் திரு. வீரேந்திர சர்மா அவர்கள் வன்னியின் மருத்துவப்பற்றாக் குறைகளைப் பற்றிப் பேசியதோடு இலங்கை இராணுவம் மக்களின் மீது குண்டு போடுவதை வன்னி மருத்துவர் தமக்கு நேரடியாக உறுதி செய்ததாகக் குறிப்பிட்டார்.

அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து பேசிய ரெஸ்பெக்ட் கட்சியை சேர்ந்த திரு. டங்கன் சட்டன் அவர்கள் இலங்கை அரசோடு கைகுலுக்கி இராஜீய உறவுகளை வைத்துக்கொள்வதற்காக பிரித்தானிய அரசை பெரிதும் சாடினார். அத்தோடு அனைத்துலக ஊடகங்களின் பாராமுகங்களையும் கண்டித்தார். அவர் தொடர்ந்து பேசுகையில் உண்ணா நோன்பாளர்களின் மனோதிடத்தை வியந்து பாராட்டினார்.

தொடர்ந்து பேசிய திருமதி பத்மினி சிதம்பரநாதன் அம்மையார் அவர்கள் ,

“ முல்லைத்தீவு அரச அதிபர் வன்னியில் 300,000 ற்கும் அதிகமான மக்கள் உள்ளனர் என்கிறார். ஆனால் இலங்கை அரசோ அங்கு 70 ,000 மக்கள் மட்டுமே உள்ளனர் என்கிறது. அப்படியாயின் ஒருபெரும் படுகொலைத்திட்டத்தின் மூலம் மீதி மக்களை கொண்டழிக்க இலங்கை அரசு திட்டமிடுகிறதோ என்று தனது சந்தேகத்தை வெளியிட்டார்.

அவரைத் தொடர்ந்து பேசிய பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் திரு.ஜெரமி கோபின் அவர்கள் , “ 1983ம் ஆண்டு தொடக்கம் இவ்வாறு நாம் பல பேரணிகளை நடாத்துகின்றோம்.ஆனால் இன்னமும் வேற்று இனத்தவர்கள் பலரை காணவில்லை . எல்லோரும் கூடி வரவேண்டும்.அத்தோடு இலங்கை மீது தடைகளைக் கொண்டுவரவேண்டும் என்று கூறிய திரு.ஜெரமி கோபின் அவர்கள் , இன்னமும் மக்கள் இலங்கைக்கு உல்லாச பயணங்களை மேற்கொள்வதைக் கண்டித்ததார்.

உலகின் கவனத்தை ஈர்க்கவென ஆபிரிக்காவின் கிழிமஞ்சிரோ மலையில் ஏறி அங்கு தழிழீழக் கொடியை நாட்டி விட்டுத்திரும்பிய திரு . கீரன் அரசரட்னம் அங்கு உரை ஆற்றினார்.

அக்கூட்டத்தில் கலந்துகொள்வதற்காக உண்ணாநிலை நோண்பாளர்களில் ஒருவரான திரு. சிவதர்சன் மேடை ஏறிய போது மக்கள் விண்னை முட்டிய கரகோஷம் செய்தனர். அங்கு பேசிய சிவதர்ஷன் , தமது மக்களுக்கு விடிவு கிடைக்கும் வரை தமது போராட்டம் தொடரும் ,அதற்கு நீங்கள் ஆதரவு அளிக்க வேண்டும் என கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்.

அத்தோடு அங்கு பிரித்தானிய தமிழர் பேரவையின் தமிழ் , ஆங்கிலப் பேச்சாளர்களின் உரை நிகழ்ந்தது.

தொடர்ந்த அந்நிகழ்வில் பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினர் திரு. அன்று பெல்ங் அவர்கள் ,” எந்த நாகரீக அரசும் தனது சொந்த மக்களை இனப்படுகலை செய்யாது. ஆனால் அதை இலங்கை அரசு செய்வதனால் அவ்வரசின்மீது தடைகளைக் கொண்டுவர பிரித்தானீயா அரசானது முன் வரவேண்டுமென அழைப்பு விடுத்தார்.

அங்கு தொடர்ந்து பேசிய மனித நேயப்பணியாளர் திரு டிம் மாட்டின் அவர்கள் தாம் வன்னியில் பணியாற்றிய போது ஏற்பட்ட அனுபவங்களைப் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார். அடுத்த நாள் வாழ்வின் நிட்சயத்தன்மை அற்ற இரவுத்தூக்கங்களை தாம் தாம் வன்னி மக்களோடு இருந்து அநுபவித்ததை உருக்கமாக எடுத்துக்கூறினார்.

அங்கு பேசிய கவுன்சிலர் டொரான் டிக்சன் அவர்கள் “ருவண்டா போல், டாவூர் போல் வன்னியும் ஆகிவிடக்கூடாது , அதற்காக சனநாயக முறையில் பிரித்தானிய மக்கள் போராடுகிறார்கள்.” என்றார்.

அடுத்து தொழிழாளர் கட்சியை சார்ந்த திரு.யூலியன் பெல் உரை நிகழ்த்தினார். அப்போது அவர் தழிழ் ஈழத் தேசிய கொடி குறித்துப் பேசினார்.

பின்னர் கான்சவெர்ரிவ் கட்சியை சார்ந்த டாக்டர் ராச்சல் அவர்களின் செய்திபடிக்கப்பட்டது. அதில் அவர் பிரித்தானிய ஊடகங்கள் இலங்கை விவகாரங்களை உண்மைத்தன்மையோடும் நடுவுனிலைமையோடும் படம் பிடித்துக் காட்டவேண்டும் என அழைப்பு விடுத்தார்.

உடனடிப் போர் நிறுத்தம் வரும் வரை போராட்டம் தொடரும் என்ற உறுதி மொழியுடன் கூட்டம் நிறைவடைந்தது.

பேரணியில் வரும் போது ஈழத்தமிழிர் ஒருவர் என்னிடம் கேட்ட கேள்வி, "தொப்புள் கொடி உறவுகளான தமிழக மக்கள் எங்களுக்காக தமிழ் நாட்டில் எண்ணற்ற போராட்டங்களில் ஈடுபடுவது ஆறுதலையும்,மனோபலத்தையும் அளிக்கிறது.ஆனால் காந்தி பிறந்த மண்ணில் இந்திய அரசாங்கம் தமிழர்களை கொல்ல ஆயுதங்களை வழங்குவதும்,இனப்படுகொலைக்கு ஆதரவாக செயல் படுவதும்,அதை தமிழக அரசாங்கம் வேடிக்கை பார்ப்பதும் எந்த விதத்தில் நியாயம்" என்றார்.வெட்கப்பட்டு வேதனைப்படுவதை தவிர என்னால் வேறெதுவும் செய்ய முடியவில்லை.

செயலையும் செய்ய தயாராக இருக்கும் தலைவர்களைக் கொண்ட த.நா காங்கிரஸ்.அதன் தற்போதைய தலைவர் தங்கபாலு பற்றி ஒண்ணும் சொல்றதுக்கு இல்ல!!. நீங்க இத படிச்சாலே போதும். இவர்கள் எல்லாம் ஈழத்தமிழர்களைப் பற்றி கருத்து சொல்லும் அளவிற்கு தமிழர்கள் வெட்கப்பட்டு தலைகுனிய வேண்டி இருக்கிறது.அப்புறம் ஆயுதம் கொடுக்கவில்லை என சொந்த நாட்டு மக்களிடமேபச்சை பொய் சொல்லும் காங்கிரஸ் பிரதமர்.இந்த காங்கிரஸ்காரர்கள் எந்த மூஞ்சியை வெச்சிக்கிட்டு வரும் நாடாளுமன்ற தேர்தலில் தமிழர்களிடம் ஓட்டு கேட்கப்போகிறார்கள்? காஸாவில் இஸ்ரேலை கண்டிக்கும் இந்தியா பக்கத்தில் தினம் தினம் அனாதைகளாக கொல்லப்படும் ஈழத்தமிழர்களைப் பற்றி ஒரு வார்த்தை...இது எல்லாம் எந்த ஊர் நியாயம் என நினைத்துக் கொண்டேன்,பிறகு தான் தெரிந்தது

போர் நிறுத்தம் செய்யாவிட்டால் ஆதரவு வாபஸ்-னு சொல்லி நாடகத்தை ஆரம்பித்த தமிழினத் தலைவர்,

கிளி நொச்சி வீழ்ந்தபின், டி.ஆர்.பாலு(திலீபன் தன் ப்ளாகில் சொன்ன மாதிரி,வடிவேல் சிரிப்பு போலிஸ்-னா இவர் சிரிப்பு மந்திரி) மூலமாக,"அவர்கள் விருந்துக்கு அழைக்கவில்லை,அதனால நாங்க ப்ராணாப்யை அனுப்பவில்லை" என வாய் கூசாமல் தமிழர்களை கேவலப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

அடுத்து காங்கிரஸ்.இழவு வீட்டில் பிணத்திலிருந்து திருடுவதற்கு ஈடான செயல் தமிழக காங்கிரஸ் தலைவர்கள்(?) செய்தது. தமிழ்குரல்-னு ஒரு ப்ளாகர் சொன்னமாதிரி,சிங்கள தூதர் அம்சாவினால்,"கொடுத்த காசுக்கு மேல கூவறான்டா கொய்யால"-னு சொல்ற அளவுக்கு வேலூர் ஞானசேகரன் புகழ் பெற்றவர்.காங்கிரஸ் மேலிடத்திடம் நல்ல பேர் வாங்க எந்த கீழ்த்தரமான
செயலையும் செய்ய தயாராக இருக்கும் தலைவர்களைக் கொண்ட த.நா காங்கிரஸ்.அதன் தற்போதைய தலைவர் தங்கபாலு பற்றி ஒண்ணும் சொல்றதுக்கு இல்ல!!. நீங்க இத படிச்சாலே போதும். இவர்கள் எல்லாம் ஈழத்தமிழர்களைப் பற்றி கருத்து சொல்லும் அளவிற்கு தமிழர்கள் வெட்கப்பட்டு தலைகுனிய வேண்டி இருக்கிறது.அப்புறம் ஆயுதம் கொடுக்கவில்லை என சொந்த நாட்டு மக்களிடமே

பச்சை பொய் சொல்லும் காங்கிரஸ் பிரதமர்.இந்த காங்கிரஸ்காரர்கள் எந்த மூஞ்சியை வெச்சிக்கிட்டு வரும் நாடாளுமன்ற தேர்தலில் தமிழர்களிடம் ஓட்டு கேட்கப்போகிறார்கள்? காஸாவில் இஸ்ரேலை கண்டிக்கும் இந்தியா பக்கத்தில் தினம் தினம் அனாதைகளாக கொல்லப்படும் ஈழத்தமிழர்களைப் பற்றி ஒரு வார்த்தை...இது எல்லாம் எந்த ஊர் நியாயம் என நினைத்துக் கொண்டேன்,பிறகு தான் தெரிந்தது
ஈழத்தமிழர்களை கொன்று,போரை முன்னின்று நடத்துவதே காங்கிரஸ் கட்சிதான் என்று.துரோகத்துக்கும் மேல் தமிழில் வேற ஏதாவது வார்த்தை இருக்கிறதா?

ஆனையிறவு வீழ்ந்தது என RAW செய்த பொய் பிரச்சாரத்தை அப்படியே வெளியிடும், ஈழப்போராட்டத்தை பற்றி அரைவேக்காட்டுத்தனமான அறிவு கொண்ட ibnlive,rediff. சொந்தமாகவே பொய் பிரச்சாரம் செய்யும் Hindu,தினமலர் வகையறாக்கள்.உயிரிழந்த பெண் போராளியை துவம்சம் செய்யும் சிங்கள வெறியர்கள்,ஈழத்தமிழர்களின் இனப்படுகொலையை, கிளி நொச்சியின் வீழ்ச்சியை திட்டமிட்டு செயல்படுத்திய வஞ்சகம் மிக்க காங்கிரஸ்...இதையெல்லாம் பார்த்து ஏதும் செய்ய முடியாமல்
தலைகுனியலாம்.

அல்லது....

1.வரும் தேர்தலில் ஈழத்தமிழர்களை ஆதரிப்பவர்களுக்கு ஓட்டு போடலாம்.
2.முடிந்தவரை உற்றார்,உறவினர், நண்பர்களுக்கு இந்த இனப்படுகொலையை
நடத்தும் தமிழ் துரோகிகளை பற்றி எடுத்துக்கூறி விழிப்புணர்ச்சியை ஏற்படுத்தாலாம்.(இது நிச்சயம் தேர்தலில் எதிரொலிக்கும்)
3.பழ. நெடுமாறன்,வைகோ,திருமாவளவன் போன்றவர்களின் போராட்டத்தை ஆதரிக்கலாம்.
4.வெளி நாட்டு வாழ் தமிழர்கள் இலங்கை தூதரகத்தின் முன்னால்
கவன ஈர்ப்பு போராட்டம் நடத்தலாம்.

5.சமீபத்தில் IT துறையினர் சென்னையில் ஈழ ஆதரவு போராட்டம் ஒன்றை

நடத்தினார்கள். அவர்களிடம் கலந்தாலோசிக்கலாம்

நேற்று, அந்திம நேரம் கடந்து இன்னர் ரிங் ரோடில் பைக்கை நிறுத்தி பேசிக்கொண்டிருந்திருக்கிறார்கள், யாரோ நாலு பேர் காரில் வந்திருக்கிறார்கள், உருட்டுக் கட்டை, பேட், ஹாக்கி ஸ்டிக் எல்லாம் கொண்டு வினய்-யை தாக்கியிருக்கிறார்கள். இந்திரா நகர் சப்-இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் வந்திருந்தார். பாலுவும் அவரும் ஏதோ பால்ய சிநேகிதர்கள் போல பேசிக்கொண்டனர்.

"சார், இவர் என் பாஸ்"

"பாஸ், இவர் நஞ்சுண்டப்பா, சப்-இன்ஸ்பெக்டர்"

"க்ரைம் இன்னர் ரிங் ரோடில் நடந்ததனால நான் விசாரிக்க வேண்டி இருக்கு"

சலித்துக் கொண்டார். 45 அல்லது 50 வயது இருக்கலாம். பியர் தொப்பை. எதற்காக கூலிங் கிளாஸை கழட்டாமல் இருக்கிறார்? தெரியவில்லை.

"அதுக்கு முன்னாடி எங்க போனீங்க"

"அப்புறம்"

"இன்னர் ரிங் ரோட்ல, அந்த சின்ன பிரிட்ஜ் கிட்ட நின்னுட்டு இருந்தோம்,

மறுபடியும் அழுதாள். எவ்வளவு கனவுகள் இருந்திருக்கும். எப்படி எப்படி எல்லாம் வாழவேண்டும் என யோசித்திருப்பார்கள். எவ்வளவு அந்நியோன்யமாக வண்டியில் அவனை அணைத்துக்கொண்டாள். இப்பொழுது அவன் உயிறற்று, இவள் அவன் நினைவுகளோடு மட்டும். வள்ளுவன் சொன்ன "நெருநெல் உளனொருவன்.."தான் ஞாபகம் வந்தது.

இன்னும் கொஞ்சம் கேள்வி கேட்டார்.

பின்னர் கொஞ்சம் தேறியவுடன் கேட்கலாம்

என விட்டுவிட்டார்.வெளியே வந்தோம்.

"எஃப்.ஐ.ஆர் போடனும், எவிடன்ஸ் சேகரிக்கனும்,

டாக்டர் சர்டிபிகேட், பி.எம் ரிப்போர்ட் எல்லாம் வேணும்,

லாங் வே டு கோ, இந்த சாப்ட்வேர் வந்ததுல இருந்து

குற்றம் அதிகமாயிடுச்சி"என்றார்.

நாங்கள் கிளம்பும்போது தான் பாலு, இன்ஸ்பெக்டரிடம் சொன்னான்.

"சார், நீங்க ஒரு முறை சுதா-வ விசாரிச்சிடுங்க"

"யாரிந்த சுதா?"

"வினய்-யோட முன்னால் கேர்ள்பிரண்ட்"

Shame on you Mr.Manmohan singh! Aren't you aware of the news of Indian
Tamil fisherman getting killed by sadistic Sinhala srilankan army.This news
has now become a daily incident in Raameswaram and Nagapattinam
districts in Tamil Nadu.And worse,you give weapons to Srilankan army which
they use to do ethnic cleansing and commit genocide of tamils in their country
and to kill your country fisherman.Do you ever know the pain of Indian
fishermen who are getting killed brutally by Srilankan army using the weapons
given by India.Shame on you Mr.Prime Minister!

What kind of foreign policy does you and your government follow
which helps Srilanka to kill your Indian fisherman.What kind of sadistic
aristocrats and "intellectual" advisers you have in your PMO to script
this kind of foreign policy? Had this happened to an American citizen
hell would have broken loose, they would have been up in arms and
waged a war on that country.American newspapers would have

ஹாஸ்பிட்டல சேர்த்திருக்கிறார்கள் என்ற அளவுக்கு புரிந்தது.வெறும் அழுகை சத்தம் தான் கேட்டது.

பாலுவை அழைத்துக் கொண்டு அவனது பல்சர்-இல் கிளம்பினோம்.
காலை பதினோரு மணிக்கும் டிராபிக் இருந்தது.ஈஜிபுரா சிக்னல்,சோனி வோர்ல்ட் சிக்னல் தாண்டி, வாட்டர் டேங்க் சந்திப்பில் ஒன்வேயில் குறுக்கு வழியில் புகுந்து ஹாஸ்பிட்டலை அடையும்போது
பதினொன்னறை. வண்டிய பார்க் பண்ணிட்டு, ரிசப்ஷனில் விசாரித்து ICU-யை நோக்கி நடந்தோம். அன்றலர்ந்த மலர்கள் போல அழகழகான குழந்தைகள்.
சிரிக்கின்றன, சில குழந்தைகள் அழுகின்றன.கீமோதெராபியினால் முடியிழந்த
இளைஞன்,நோயுற்ற வயதான பாட்டி, அவரை கூட்டி வரும் வயதான பெரியவர், வாழ்வின் நிலையாமையை பக்கத்தில் இருந்து பார்க்கும் மருத்துவர்கள். எல்லோரையும் கடந்து ICU-வை அடைந்தோம்.

ப்ரீத்தி அதே சிகப்பு கலர் சேலையில் இருந்தாள்.
சேலை கசங்கி இருந்தது.வினையின் அக்கா மடியில்
தலை வைத்து அழுதுக் கொண்டிருந்தாள். வினய்-இன் அப்பாவும் அம்மாவும் தலையை பிடித்துக்கொண்டு எதையோ வெறித்துப்பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர்.
சூழ் நிலையின் தீவிரம் புரியாமல் நாங்கள் விழிக்க,
வினையின் அக்கா கணவர், எங்களை வெளியே அழைத்து
சென்று சொன்னபோது தான் தெரிந்தது, வினய் இறந்து
அரை மணி நேரம் ஆகிறது என்று.

Well, that was the third question, the 6.4" tall Afro-American
homeland security officer asked me in LA international airport
upon my arrival in US of A.

"What is your purpose of visit?"
"Business visit"

"How long are you going to stay here"
"For a week or two"

"Fine..given a chance, will you stay in US."

"Given a chance what..",I murmured.

Firstly, I did not expect this question.
I really don’t know how to answer this question.
But I replied back, "This is a hypothetical question, I don’t have an answer"

He gave a weird look and he said slowly,

"Young man, I am bound to ask this hypothetical question and sometimes
in the world hypothetical circumstances becomes reality. And you
are bound to give a genuine answer"

"Fine, I never gave a thought about that. I do not foresee any
circumstances either, and my work is based in London and
I will go back to London once my business trip is over."

He gave a sarcastic simper and asked me to go.

The chauffer who whisked me from LA airport is 6.2” tall, stout and muscular.
California weather was really hot and sunny, contrary to my self-made
assumption that California is cold. He told me that it is actually a desert.
When I asked the chauffer, whom do you support in the presidential elections
his answer was clear.

“Given the current economic crisis and America’s heavily criticised
foreign policy, Obama will be a right choice. He speaks sense.
I think he can bring back the sanity that was tampered by Bush.
And more over Sarah Palin stinks”

Apart from awesome and cool, seems the most common words/names
used in America now are Obama and Palin!

In America everything is big. Right from the toilet seats to car seats to trucks to pizzas to refrigerators to milk cans ,everything is big. The English they speak is kind of harsh(at least to me!).I am puzzled when the New Orleans Mayor asked his people to get their butts moving out of New Orleans during Hurricane Gustav.I wonder the kind of language they use. A cultural difference..??

America is bit bizarre, outlandish for me. Nothing is sacred in this country. From sex to divine, seems nothing is sacred to them. Nothing applies to everything that you think of .They question the rules, question the well established dogmas and they dazzle in something or the other and they just pop out of the page and hog international lime light. But whether they hog the limelight for right reasons or wrong reasons is a different matter altogether.

Fine.

I am hurt by the way Sourav Ganguly was treated by BCCI. Statistics and performance speaks for him. His performance was outstanding during the last two years, except during last Sri Lanka series. BCCI and the bunch of jokers like Dilip Vengsarkar and Kiran moore spoiled his career by unnecessarily putting pressure on him through their ad-hoc way of selecting the team and having different yardstick when selecting Ganguly.

The Prince of Comeback again proved that he is capable by hitting a century against Australia in Mohali test. People who watched his batting would have noticed the way he played. It was perseverance personified. Just after his century, he raised his arms and smiled to himself. He didn’t point his bat to anybody, he didn’t had any message for his critics,detractors as if they didn’t matter. It was a moment of glory.

"Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard are sweeter"-என்கிறார்
ஜான் கீட்ஸ். Ode on a Grecian Urn என்ற அழகான கவிதையில் வருகிறது
இந்த வரிகள். கவிதை வரிகளின் உள்ளர்த்தம் புரிந்து ரசிக்க Yahoo answers
உதவியது. நாம் கேட்டு ரசிக்கும் பாடல்கள் இனிமையாகவே இருக்கின்றன,
அதன் இனிமை ஒரு வரையறைக்குள், ஒரு finite எல்லைக்குள் வந்துவிடுகிறது,
ஆனால் நாம் கேட்காத, அதாவது நாம் கற்பனை செய்து கொள்ளும் இசையை,
பாடலை, எந்த எல்லைக்குள்ளும் கட்டுப்படுத்தாமல், நம் கற்பனைக்கு ஏற்றவாறு
அதன் அந்தம் வரை சென்று அதன் இனிமையை,அமுதத்தை பருகலாம் என்கிறார்.
கீட்ஸ் ஒரு கிரேக்க குடுவையில்(Urn),ஒரு இளைஞன் கிரேக்க வாத்தியகருவியை

Budapest diary

In spite of the tiring long arduous seven hour journey, the enthusiasm was there to visit a country which got independence just 19 years ago.We reached the Budapest East railway station in the evening,which mostly resembles our Chennai central railway station.We just checked-in in our Yellow Submarine hotel(remember the famous Beatles album!) and relaxed there for the night.

Next morning, like a typical tourist, with a local map and camera, we set out for exploring the beautiful city.Among the western style buildings and architecture you can see dull old communist era buildings and graffiti on the walls, typical of communist country.The Russian occupation of Hungary ended in 1989 and they left the country two years later.Seems communism didnt do much good to Hungary and there is a general hatred towards this particular ideology and the people who occupied them.

Most of the tourist places in Budapest can be covered by walk and located near by except for a few.The good thing about most of the european city is that the city's local map shows

every street name,corners and the train,bus,tram connectivity. Like every other european city, a beautiful river flows through Budapest. Danube river divides the city into Buda and Pest(correct..Kamal sollra maathiri kaavakku anthaanda Buda inthaanda Pest..!!). And a beautiful Chain bridge connects the two sides. There is a underground train system built some 100 years before which is very much working and it also runs under Danube and connects Buda and Pest.

The ancient settlers along the Danube river were called Magyars whose civilization dates back to 9th century and thats why Hungary is referred to as Magyar in local Magyar(Hungarian) language. Buda,Obuda(Old city north of Buda) and Pest forms Budapest.Obuda has that great Buda castle and the ruins of Roman empire. Fishermen’s Bastion with seven turrets representing seven Magyor tribes, 13th century Matthias Church and Royal palace are worth visiting. You can see bullet scarred building that tells stories about the 1956 uprising of the students and people against the communist government. From the hills of Buda the view of the entire city is beautiful and that too in the night it is amazingly beautiful. Seems the Romans discovered the thermal springs underneath and built public baths.Budapest is famous for splendid Spas and Medicinal springs.The local people say it is a sin if you dont take bath in the city's medicinal waters.We sinned.

It will be a greater sin if I dont mention about Andreas and his girl friend Gyongyi whom we met in the train while coming to Budapest.They just promised us that they will spend some time with us in helping us seeing the city.But they spent a whole day with us taking around the castles and other places in Buda and explaining the importance of the places.It is surprising to see Andreas explaining like a guide the history of the places with events and the years in which it took place. In the evening he took us to a Hungarian pub where we tasted the typical Hungarian dishes and drink.Dont miss Palinka with honey flavour and Unicum a traditional bitter drink prepared from different herbs.It wouldnt have been a very memorable trip without Andreas and Gyongyi.Thanks for the hospitality you both showered on us. It was very Indian or should I say very Hungarian..!!

Hungary is famous for musicians and mathematicians.The next day we visited the Hungarian Opera house in the Andrássy avenue.An elegantly built magnificent structure with its neo-renaissance architecture adores the Andrássy avenue.The interiors are beautifully decorated and the statues of Mozart, Beethovan and Verdi adorn the main facade outside.And our god of music,Ilayaraja has been here many times for composing symphony music with the Hungarian musicians.

Walk 300 meters towards the Danube river in the Andrássy avenue, you will get St.Stephen’s Basilica on your right(Szt. István in Magyar), an imposing huge structure with a big open square facing the Danube river. It is artistic and aesthetic. Spend a evening in the square in front of the Basilica and have a stroll to the near by Danube. It is really romantic. From St.Stephens Basilica, Hungary parliament is near by.It is situated right on the banks of Danube on the Pest side. Polish president was visiting the parliament and we, lesser mortals were not allowed inside that day.To hell with Polish president.

McDonalds and Burger King are there everywhere. Euros are accepted but they give the change in Hungarian currency Forints. The other side of Andrássy avenue in the direction opposite to Danube takes you to the Heroes sqaure. Now you can see only dinghy old communist era buildings lining either sides. House of Terror is a testament to the city and the people, after being ravaged by Nazi and Soviet regime. It evokes sad memories of people who are tortured and killed during their regimes.

Heroes square is 40m tall column with a statue on the top built in 1896 for Millennium celebrations of the 1000th year of settlement of their ancestors in Carpathian Basin along the Danube river. We missed the Margaret Island and some museums.Two days are enough to see all the important places. A leisurely walk on the banks of Danube with your loved ones, hand in hand or a cruise in the Danube during the dusk or in the night, enjoying the chill breeze and the beautiful castles and monuments on either side of the river is heaven!!

All is well,until the police caught me on the return journey in Munich central station for travelling with out a passport.I have forgotten my passport at home.

US Recession,Happy Days and Barack Obama.

Well, don't get perplexed by the topic...

Happen to read the first chapter of Barack Obama's, "The Audacity of Hope" in NY Times. Pretty interesting! Tells about his trials and tribulations in a subtle way with out much whining. Seems he has endured the inescapable restlessness and uncertainty in his career and the general impatience one is bound to be face in life. Some of the lines in the chapters are heartfelt. You can identify yourselves in those lines. When telling about his congressional defeat in 2000 elections, he says,” It was an ill-considered race, and I lost badly-the sort of drubbing that awakens you to the fact that life is not obliged to work out as you'd planned” and after reaching the limits of the failure in his career he says,”... he realizes that he's gone just about as far as talent or fortune will take him. The dream will not happen, and he now faces the choice of accepting this fact like a grown-up and moving on to more sensible pursuits,.....”. Worth a read.

Now a days people started talking about recession.(jerk..!!).The US recession, the economic slowdown or what ever ill fated word you can use to refer the business people and (software)engineers nightmare. 2001 passed out engineering students knows the pain of recession.Dream jobs, fat salary, making plans of buying a bike in the first month salary , dreaming about riding it with your girl friend, and when you are about to savor it, comes the harsh ruthless reality of life. The uncertainty. The uncertainty in the form of recession. Dot com bubble burst, accompanied by Sep 11 incident triggered that one. As the Democratic candidate said, life is not obliged to work out as you'd planned!!

After a bit of googling,when trying to make sense of what triggered(or is triggering) this recession,am forced to read about Subprime mortgage crisis, Credit crunch,Federal rate cuts, slowing wheels of economy, cascading effect,Domino effect.If I want to switch my job, then do I have to ponder about all the uncertainties involved?. Kadavulee....As Thomas Grey said, Ignorance is Bliss...!!

I think it is time to think about starting my own business or start doing
agriculture in my native.

Of late I have started watching Telugu movies.The nativity,style,taste of the movies is all most same like Tamil movies.Tholiprema is the first telugu movie that I have seen. Saw the dubbed version Ananda Mazai in Harshini theatre in coimbatore during my college days.Then again saw the movie twice in the next few days. Really really good..!! Aarya,Athadu,Varsham are very entertaining.Seems now a days telugu heros dont wear dark yellow or dark red color shirts.

Watched Sekar Kammulu’s Happy Days yesterday.A college life movie with a happy ending.You will feel nostalgic after watching it.The interesting thing about the movie is that we can identify ourselves in the movie in some character or the other and what not Tamanna is cool...!! I am impressed with Sekar Kammulu’s first movie Anand. Godavari is too good.Even though I cant understand each and every dialogue, Godavari is a different movie, a movie which portrays the tender human emotions,with out melodrama.Watching the movie is like spending a solitary pleasant evening in the sands of the river side.Director Sekar Kammulu is a US returned....yeah..you are right, a Software Engineer.

Hmm one more venture to try if recession hits...!!

The first question my 7th std studying cousin asked me
when I called up my home was ,"Did you see Jodi number one in Vijay TV,
Do you know what Simbu said(cried!!) last week" .Have seen the episode
that created a furore. Seems the current hot topic in Tamil Nadu is Jodi
number one.People say it is a trick to improve the TRP(is it TRP or TRB!!) ratings.
But seems the program is already a hit..!!

Watched Kanimozhi on Karan Thapar’s Devils Advocate.
The very first question from him is, Let’s start with your father’s comments
about Lord Ram. ‘Who is this Ram? Which engineering college did he study
in and become a civil engineer? When did he build this so-called bridge?’
Can you accept that to the hundreds and millions who worship Ram as God,
both the tone and the content are deeply offensive?

And the answer goes like this… “…In Tamil Nadu, we come from a culture
that questions and is open to criticism, be it culture or anything else..”
And she quotes Kaalamega Pulavar of 17th century who questions Lord Shiva.
She put forth her arguments in a composed, calm manner and in a clear way
that made the usually interrupting Karan Thapar to sit and listen to the other
side of the untold truth.And he went on to say,” I understand that you may
have a strong defence. Others may disagree with it. At least you have a chance
to explain it the way you and your father see it”

I was at pains to explain my non-Tamil speaking friends here when the issue rocked.

The intelligent thing is that she questioned the (sanity of ) questions being
asked.When Thapar asks, “ So in the interest of the project it does not matter
if a few egg shells are broken on the way”, she quips,” Actually, the point is
who’s breaking the eggshells?”. And she made it clear, he quoted Valmiki when
he says Rama drank.I still remember the news being flased in TVs and websites
misquoting or twisting the statements to make it sensational.

Remember, when George Fernandes said that, “had someone done this kind of a
thing in China, he would have been shot dead” - on the issue of Indo-US nuclear
deal accusing Congress of lying, the TV channels blatantly said Fernandes wants
Manmohansingh to be shot on head..??!!

The nice thing about the interview was Thapar pronounced the name Kanimozhi
correctly without much difficulty. The saree clad Tamil Nadu MP really impressed
the show by elucidating the facts.

Fine, I don’t have an answer to a hypothetical question that my friend asked,
Would the CM commented in the same tone,same way had Lord Muruga or
Lord Venkateshwara been involved in this issue.

Bangalore-I love this city and love to hate this city...!!

Charles Dickens's immortal lines
may very well serve as an
analogy for Bangalore.
You can find the best of the city and
in the next moment you can end up
seeing the worst of the city.

You can have a pleasant evening stroll
in the boulevard's of bougainvillea
trees with purple color Jacaranda and
yellow color Tabebuia flowers
adoring the west of chord road,vijay nagar
and in the next moment you may
end up in the huge traffic jam on the Magadi road.
I love this city and love to hate this city.

You can find varieties in virtuosity.
You may see an insane crowd banging heads to the
numbers of Iron Maiden's Steve Harris
and in the very next day you can
see people queueing up in Rangashankara for
getting mesmerized to Kadri Gopalnath's Saxophone
or just there in kalakshetra to engross themselves in
danseuse Sobana's classic Bharathanatyam.
Glamour glares but simplicity soothes...!!

It is a cultural shock for a guy like me
from Tamil Nadu to see hotels
with hoarding that displays-
"Family bar and Restaurant",
and rather surprising to see
auto drivers speaking almost
all the south-indian languages and
Hindi at ease!!

After a tough days work in office,
the poor bachelors can always taste their
kind of food in kaaraikudi or kairali or in Gonguraa's
but the long wait in queue will make you to think of
getting married just to have good home food!!

But it is not always the best of the things
that makes you to love the city and not
always the worst of the things that makes
you to hate the city..it is the people,
the culture, the ethos that makes
you like the city.And this multi-ethnic
cosmo have it all.

You can curse the traffic snarls,
imprecate the BMP for the all the
havoc that was created by the rains,
but there are so many things in Bangalore
that makes you love the city.
The reason may vary from person
to person,but every Bangalorean
have got a reason to live here,have
an affinity towards this city...

Just imagine having an evening
walk with the angel you love by holding
her hands in the rain drenched
boulevard's of west of chord road
adorned with purple Jacaranda....!!
Isnt it the best place to live...

Film Review--Guru

So..to put it in Mani Ratnam's words good
fiction must be rooted in reality.Guru could
have been inspired from Ambani,LN Mittal,or
it could have been inspired from the fictional
characters of Kieth Townsend and Richard Armstrong
of Jeffrey Archer's The Fourth Estate.

It is about a protagonist who belongs
to "Veni Vidi Vici" category.It is
about an ambitious man brimming with
ideas for whom the ends justify the means.

The story starts with Gurukant Desai(Abhishek)
(in Tamil the name is Gurunath Desikan!)
going to Istanbul to nurture his ambitions
and returning back to India to chase
his own dreams.

Starts his own polyester textile business
in Bombay,initially struggles through
the bureaucratic hurdles, fights back,
slowly subdues his opponents,learns the art
of cajoling and coaxing the politicians,
expands his business and becomes
unstoppable at one point.

The carefully chosen words,meticulously
delivered dialogues and the strategy Guru
devises during his meeting with the
politician to prevail upon him to obtain
permission for his new petro chemical
business will of-course be a discussion
among the budding entrepreneurs. That sequence
is a typical Mani Ratnam's magnum opus.It also
exposes the dangerous liaisons that the
business tycoons and the politicians enjoy.

The love-hate relationship between Guru
and the newspaper editor(Mithun) seems
to be new to the Indian film industry.
Abhishek expresses his greedy ambitions
through his eyes.He is at his best in acting.
We can see his acting skills honed
right from RGV's Sarkar.

Madhavan is a young journalist who is up
against Abhishek in movie and in acting.
Vidya Balan is beautiful.

It will be a sin if I dont mention about
Mallika Sherawat's "Mayya Mayya" song.
It comes at the very beginning of the movie.
So...!! Sujatha's(Aishwarya) introduction
song at the top of the Mahabalipuram's four
pillared Mandapam and the Tere Bina song shot in
Maduarai Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal is aesthetic
and artistic.Seems Mani Ratnam is fond of these
two places.It has come in many of his movies.
(Iruvar,Bombay,Thalapathi,Thiruda Thiruda)

Rajiv Menon speaks through the colors and
lighting with great elan.Whilst the characters
speak through Vijay Krishna Acharya's sharp dialogues.
In Tamil it is Azagham Perumal,director of Dum Dum Dum.
Rahman's music is dulcet and the
back ground music full-fills the need
of the scenes.

Fine,why is that there is always a
shade of sorrow and melancholy in second
half screenplay when he is active in business.
Is it because pain is part of
one's life who has reached great heights.
We can see the same pain being protrayed
in Iruvar also.

Seems the slowness at some instances in
the movie cant be avoided when you want
to tell the real life.

Villager,Visionary,Winner applies both
to Gurukant Desai and Mani Ratnam!

கடந்த ஆண்டின் கடைசி பத்து தினங்கள்..

இல்ல, நீங்க நினைக்கிற மாதிரி கடந்த ஆண்டின் முக்கிய வரலாற்று நிகழ்ச்சியை பற்றி எழுதப் போவதில்லை...எங்க அலுவலகத்தில் பத்து நாள் விடுமுறை கொடுத்தார்கள்.பத்து நாள் கிடைக்கிறதே என, பேராசையுடன் மூன்று தமிழ் புதினங்கள், நான்கு ஆங்கில புதினங்கள்,பார்க்க முடியாமல் போன படங்களின் தகடுகள் எல்லாம் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு வீட்டிற்க்கு சென்றேன்.

ஆனால்,எதுவும் உருப்படியா பண்ணல..
பிரேம்-பூஜா,விஜய்-ரச்னா இவர்கள் எல்லாம் யார் என்ற நிலையில் இருந்து இவர்களுக்காக ஒரு கூட்டம் (எங்கள் வீட்டிலும்,அதுவும் என் மொபைலில் இருந்து..!!) SMS அனுப்புகிறது என தெரிந்துகொண்டேன்.வீட்டில் அடிக்கடி கேட்ட வார்த்தை ஜோடி நம்பர் 1,பிரேம்-புஜா,செல்வி,அப்புறம் சதாம் ஹுசைன். செல்வி-கடைசி அத்தியாயம் பார்க்க விடாமல்,அந் நேரத்தில் சேனல் மாற்றியதற்காக கொஞ்சம் திட்டு வாங்கினேன்.

இந்த தொலைக்காட்சி நாடகங்களும் கொஞ்சம் addictive தான் போல...!!!

புத்தாண்டு நிகழ்ச்சிகளின் கவனக்கலைப்பில் இருந்து தப்ப முடியாமல் கிட்டதட்ட எல்லா சேனல்களையும் மாற்றி மாற்றி பார்த்தேன்...
போன வருடம் எடுத்த அதே உறுதிமொழிகளை இந்த வருடமும் எடுக்கலாம்
என்று இருக்கிறேன்.

Fine..இதோ இந்த புத்தாண்டில் எனது ஆசைகள்.

இந்த மென்பொருள் எழுதுபவர்கள் தனி கூட்டம் போல.
வாழ்வின் சுகங்களை சீக்கிரம் ருசிக்க முடிகிறது போல.
முப்பது வயதை தொடுவதற்குள் upper middle class
வாழ்க்கை,கைக்கு எட்டும் தூரத்தில் வெளி நாட்டுப் பயணம்,
cutting edge,3G wireless-ல் வேலை செய்கிறேன்
என்று தெரிந்தவர்களிடம் ஜல்லி அடிக்க போதுமான
டெக்னாலஜி அறிவு, awesome,cool,core competency
என்று கலந்தடிக்க போதுமான பேச்சு திறன்,
அப்புறம் Pulsar-ல் அமர்திக்கொண்டு Forum, PVR ,INOX
என்று ஊர் சுற்ற ஒரு தேவதை,இது கிட்டாத
பாவப்பட்ட ஜென்மங்களுக்கு, நண்பர்களுடன்
கொண்டாட இருக்கவே இருக்கிறது Kingfisher,Vodka..
வேறென்ன வேண்டும்.இது தான் சொர்க்கம்! பேரின்பம்!!

இப்படி தான் நானும் நினைத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தேன்!
எல்லாமே சீக்கிரம் கிடைத்துவிட்டால் சுவாரஸ்சியம்
போய் விடுகிறது போல. சில பொழுதில்,தனிமை-இல்
இருக்கும் போது,what next-?னு ஒரு கேள்வி வரும்.
ஒரு வித நிலைகொல்லாமை, restlessness.
எல்லாமே இருந்தும், ஏதோ இல்லாத மாதிரி.
S.J.சூர்யா சொல்ற மாதிரி இருக்கு,ஆனா இல்ல.
நாம் வாழ்க்கையில் சரியான பாதையில் தான்
செல்கிறோமா என்று ஒரு திடீர் சந்தேகம்.

என் நண்பனிடம் இது பற்றி சொன்னால்,உனக்கு
கேர்ள் ப்ரண்ட் இல்ல மச்சி,அதனால தான் இப்படி
எல்லாம் பேசுர...முடிந்சா யாரயாவது தேத்த பாரு
என்று அவன் வேற வெறுப்பேற்றி விட்டு சென்றான்.

கார்ப்பரேட் உலக்கத்தில் இதை Mid career crisis
(யாராவது இதை தமிழ் படுத்தலாம்) என்கிறார்கள்.
முப்பதுகளின்(அகவை) ஆரம்பத்தில் வரும் என்கிறார்கள்.
நம்ப ஊர் IIM-இல் இது பற்றி கேஸ் ஸ்டடி செய்கிறார்கள்.
முப்பதுகளில் வரும் இந்த நிலைக்கொல்லாமையை
சிலர் நல்லது என்கிறார்கள்.இதனால் நம் மனது நாம்
செய்யும் அன்றாட வேலை-யை விட்டு வேறு ஏதவாது,
நம்மிடம் ஓளிந்திருக்கும் திறமையை
வெளி கொணரும் என்கிறார்கள். நம்மிடம் ஒருவித
தேடல் தோன்றும் என்கிறார்கள்.ஸ்டீவ் ஜாப்ஸ், 1970-களில்,
இந்தியாவில் சுற்றி திரிந்தது கூட இந்த தேடல் தானோ?

கடைசியாக, அந்த Mid career crisis-ல்
இருந்து விடுபட நமக்கு பிடித்தவற்றை
செய்யலாம் என்கிறார்கள்.கிட்டார்
வாசிக்கலாம்,கவிதை கூட எழுதலாம்,இல்லா
விட்டால் சன் ம்யுசிக்-கில் சந்தியா-வை
ரசிக்கலாம்(இது நம்ப ஐடியா.!!).

நண்பனிடம் ,"கவிதை எழுதலாம்னு இருகேன்டா"-என்றேன்.

"ஓ அப்படியா ...!! ம்ம்ம் எங்க ஒண்ணு சொல்லு
பார்கலாம்"-என்றான் ஏற இறங்க பார்த்துக்கொண்டு.

"உன்னோடு நானிருந்த ஒவ்வொரு மணித்துளியும்
மரணப் படுக்கையிலும் மறவாது கண்மணியே
தொண்ணூறு நிமிடங்கள் தொட்டணைத்த காலம் தான்
எண்ணூறு ஆண்டுகலாய்......"

"ஏய் நில்லு நில்லு....இது ஏற்கனவே வைரமுத்து சார்
"இருவர்" படத்துக்காக எழுதினது"

"ஓ அப்படியா...சரி! இது எப்படி இருக்கு.."

"மூங்கில் இலை மேலே தூங்கும் பனிதுளியே

உலகம் போற்றும் கவிதை எழுத நினைத்தேன்,
வான் போற்றும் காவியம் வடிக்க நினைத்தேன்,
யாரிந்த பாரதியும்,வைரமுத்துவும்,சுஜாதவும்,
நான் எழுத நினைத்ததை முன்னமே எழுதி இருக்கிறார்கள்!!"

எனக்கும் Murphy's law-கும் எப்பவும் ரொம்ப அ ந் நியோன்யம் உண்டு.
எப்பவும் நான் காதலிக்கிற பெண்களுக்கு தான் சீக்கிரம் கல்யாணம் ஆகும்.
நான் ஏறுகிற பேருந்து தான் break down ஆகும்.இப்படி நிறைய...
Fine, இந்த கதை நான் காதலித்த தேவதைகளைப் பற்றி அல்ல...!

வழக்கம் போல கிருஷ்ணகிரி-யில் பேருந்து மாறி, பெங்களூர்
செல்லும் பேருந்தில் ஏறினேன். பக்கத்தில் செவப்பு சட்டையும்,
மஞ்சள் சட்டையும் அணி ந்த இரண்டு பேர் அமர் ந் தார்கள்.
இளைஞர்கள்.பெங்களூரில் மேஸ்திரி,கார வேலை செய்பவர்கள் போல.

பாரதியின் படைப்புகள் அதிகம் படித்ததில்லை, ஆனால்
கல்லூரி நாட்களில் ஞானராஜசேகரின் "பாரதி" படம்
பார்த்ததுண்டு. பாரதியை பற்றி நிறைய படித்திருக்கிறேன்,
வியந்திருக்கிறேன்,அசந்திருக்கிறேன்.

காலத்தை கடந்த சிந்தனை,சமுதாயத்தின் ஏற்ற தாழ்வுகளின் மேல்
உள்ள கோபம்,"தமிழ் இனி மெல்லச் சாகும்", எனும் போது

பேருந்து கூடவே ஓடி வந்து பழம் விற்கும் ஒரு சிறுவனை கவனித்து இருக்கிறேன்.
அவனுக்கு கீழிருந்து பேருந்தின் சன்னல்கள் கூட எட்டாது.

சுஜாதா, தமிழகத்தின் முதல் பத்து மோசடிகளில், தொலைகாட்சியில் வரும், அந்த தொலைபேசியில் பேசி தனக்கு பிடித்தமான பாடலை கேட்கும் நிகழ்ச்சியை குறிப்பிட்டிருந்தார்.அந்த நிகழ்ச்சியில் தொலைபேசுபவர்களின் psychology,எதிர்பார்புகள் முதலில் எனக்கு புரியவில்லை. சாப்டீங்களா, என்ன சமையல், நீங்க ரொம்ப அழகா இருக்கீங்க,காதல் பத்தி என்ன நினைக்கறீங்க,எவ்வளவு பேரை காதலிச்சிருகீங்க போன்ற தேவையற்ற விசாரிப்புகள்,செயற்கை சிரிப்புகள்,துள்ளல்கள் தான் அதிகம் பார்க்க முடிகிறது.

It was for a business meeting that I first visited the so
called "Land of great oppurtunities".We landed in
LA International airport on a snowy morning.The Black lady
at the immigration counter smiled courteously
and looked at my passport.

"Mr.Kuumaar"

"Yep"

"Ohhhh, Indian...!!!"

"Yep.."

"I love Sania Mirza"

"Me too,She is my best friend,of course shez lives next door", this is Balu.

"Reeeaaally!!!!!, I cant believe that.."

"Dont believe him,he is lying"-this is me.

"This is the mobile number"

Balu scribbled something on a paper..

"Sania's phone number??"

"No this is mine, gimme a call,I will tell her phone number"

I almost dragged him away from the counter.

Balu...he is my school-mate,my friend,can solve
The Hindu's toughest Su-do-ku in 5 or 6 mins,
can read Richard Feynman and Ayn Rand with equal ease,
and ofcourse he is an IIM-L grad,but the problem is ...
you would have known from the above conversation.

We directly went to Tanya's house in the evening after the meeting.
It was almost a year since I saw her in the wedding reception.
I know she will be expecting us.She welcomed us with her
usual charming smile. But her eyes spoke a different story.
The hot tea she served us was very refreshing
for the Los Angeles cold.

"So,Howz ur marriage life Tanya"

She smiled wryly.
No... Never ever I saw her smiling that way.

"Heey, what happened..?"

She just broke down.I didnt expect that.
It seems she just waited for this moment.
For the next fifteen minutes she told the miseries and
tribulations that she faced.She was not treated properly,
not given due respect,the respect that a women will expect
from a man.

Seems all the dreams she had dreamt for in her marriage life
had just become a dream for her.
Seems her husband is a kind of chauvinist.

But what made me really sad is when she told me
that there is no one around in US to share her sorrows.

I didnt say anything for a minute, just stared at the distant
Los Angeles river.I dont know how to console her.

Her husband just entered the house.

He just came and hugged her,smiled at us.
Never bothered to know whom we are, why are we here.
The hall is filled with alcoholic smell.He is almost trembling.

"Vodka...", this is Balu.

"hmmmm"

"Why dont you take alcohol in limits..",this is Tanya

He kind of got infuriated,exasperated.

"Who are you to advice me...Do you know my social status..
do you know how many Harvard MBAs reporting to me..?"

"Education should have taught you the manners and not..."

"shut-up you..."

"You should know to respect a women.."

He just slapped her.
She didnt utter a word.I cant believe my eyes.
I am helpless.Probably the most distressful,traumatic
moment in my life.We just left.

While we are returning back to India in the flight
I was pre-occupied with that incident.

"She should have slapped him..."-this is me.

"Forget it da.."

"How dare he talk that way,Social status and education should have
taught him to respect a women..if Harvard MBAs report to him...
does it allow him to behave like this.."

"leave it da"

Life has itz own twists and turns which we dont expect,
but I never expected that it will be too harsh.
I know life is unfair.Life is unfair to my friend.
She should bounce back...but will she?

Exactly two months later, I got a phone call from Tanya.
"Heey Senthil, I am going to start a consulting firm in India,
got a VC to back me,looking for some IIM grads....interested..?"

I know, she will...

Wedding.It was my best friends wedding reception.
We were welcomed with an instant(artificial?) smile
at the reception. The Italian tiles and the aesthetic art work
in the hall boasted the wealth of the groom.I can see my friend
Tanya attired in bridal costume accepting everyones wishes with
her usual smile.

Well,the groom is from United States of A(where else??).
He was stout, kind of gigantic in stature and had a slight bald
in his forehead.She in her traditional Tangail bengali saree
almost looked like an angel.

Tanya....Shez my Engineering collegemate.
One of the eccentric human being I have seen.
We have discussed almost everything during our college
days-from sex to divine-from Stephan Hawking's String theory to
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, the disease that crippled him to the
wheel chair-from complex Game theory algorithms to
Nicolo Machiavelli's political doctrines.

An enthusiastic odissi dancer whose hobbies include still photography and
taking classes for Primary school students(?!)...but the problem with her
is she doesnt believe in God, and even worse, she doesnt believe in Love!
(Hey, thatz an hormonal imbalance,therez nothing called as love!!)

The kind of analytical reasoning and the business acumen she possesed
made me think that she will one day lead a big business conglomerate.
Atleast she is nonpareil in our college.

But during our final year college tour...
On a full moon night...
While sauntering in the beaches of kanyakumari she told me that her
wish is to get married and to become a mother of a boy and a girl.
Seems motherhood is the eternal joy she wants in her life!
Girls are quite complex to understand.

My friend Balu entered the reception hall.
"Heey, whatz this, Red color shirt and red color pant?, looks odd...",this is myself.

"Didnt you see Asin's interview yesterday"

"wwwhat...??"

"Red is Asin's favourite color"

"Nee ellam thirunthavee maatiyadaa...?"

He switches his loyalties towards actress almost every fortnight.

Balu,"Is the groom from USA or UK"

"USA"

"Machhi, if every one is getting married to US guy, who will marry the
bachelors like me in India..."

"Summa irraa"

"Do you think the guy really deserve Tanya,avanum avan thalaiyum, Kiliya pudichii,...."

"Deey, summa irraaa"

We reached the dais....
I can see the happiness in Tanya's eyes on seeing me and Balu.
She introduced us to him.He seems to be not interested in these
formalities and spoke in an heavy californian accent.

"This is senthil..."

"Ohhhhh...Cooool maaan"- was his only reply.

I dont know whatz cool in my name.

Now a days I stopped going to reception hosted by the US grooms.
But I was happy that my friend got married as she wished and
settled comfortably in her life.

I didnt know that my happiness wont last long.

My new bicycle experiences

The moment I told my friends that I am going to buy a bicycle,
the first question they asked me is, "Senthil, Are you okaay?"
But I bought the cycle inspite of the apprehensions my friends had.

Seems cycle riders are considered to be of lesser mortals!
On the busy Bommenahalli-Hosur road,people never heed the
cycle's bell sound,neither they do heed the two-wheelers horn
is a different issue!.(My friend really made a fun out of me when
I told that no one pays attention to the cycle bell sound).

What really irked me is the way, the guy on a Hero-Honda Karizma
looked at my cycle when I parked near his vehicle in the signal.
I still cant digest that, "ohhww... cycleee!" kind of stare that he has given.

But the worst thing is that I was not allowed to park in my office
basement.I had a bitter quarrel with the security person.

"Saar, stop, stop"- this is security person,the same guy who always
lets me in when I go in my bike.

"why?"- this is myself.

"Saar, are you an employee?"

I showed my access card.

"cycles cant be parked inside the basement"

"But even it is a two-wheeler,It is a new Atlas cycle that I bought..."

"No saar,not allowed"

He is not convinced with my answer and he made me to wait.
He then spoke to his boss and they discussed something
seriously(??) for 2 minutes and I was allowed to park in
some far corner of the basement.Thanks!.
I should have taken my friends advice to go in my Pulsar itself.

I still remember the sweet pleasant day when I rode my new bicycle
that my father bought for me during my 6th std and the fuss
I created for getting it. I didnt had good sleep the previous night,
I was dreaming about the cycle and the ways to brag about it
to my friends. And I remember the jealousy looks by my
school- mates when I rode it the first day.

Seems first love and first cycle ride are unforgettable sweet memories.
I dont think I will be getting the same happiness even if I buy a Merc Benz.

Film Review-Anniyan

Starring : Vikram, Sada, Prakash raj,Vivek.
Direction :Shankar.
Artists :Harris Jeyaraj, Sujatha, Sabu cyril.

Enough of all the Multiple Personality Disorder
debates. If we can google and find what is
Chaos theory,then... Got it? Fine.
That is the knot of Anniyan movie.

A small negligence by a human being may lead to
a catastrophic end.A four-wheeler who violates
the overtaking rules and blocking the
ambulance(No,I am not referring the Bangalore
traffic!) is virtually killing the person inside it.
A small mistake..but a deadly end!

You need guts to build a story on that theme.
Shankar has that.

Director Shankar sacrificed the first 30 minutes
of the films pace just to explain this theme.
The Hero of the movie Ambi(Vikram) is a martinet
who hate disorders. He just wants to see an
utopian world in place,but gets traumatised by the
chaos,negligence by each and everyone, which
makes him to acquire a MPD who is nothing
but Anniyan. He ruthlessly kills the people
who violates the rules.

And another MPD is Remo, a modern macho with
a "US return" kind of accent and this MPD happens
just to make Nandhini(sada) fall in love who
dislikes Ambi.Ohhh...Interesting!

Vikram.Well, the ability to distinguish the facial
changes and body language of two contrasting
characters(Ambi and Anniyan) with an
elan in a split second(during Prakash raj
Interrogation) speaks he is at par with our own
yardstick for acting-Kamal Hassan.

Sada...Yes,I switched my loyalty to sada now.
The "Iyangaaru girl" role suits her.She is beautiful.
Prakash raj is good,as usual.Sujatha's dialogues are
as sharp as a razor edge.

Stunt scenes are stupefying, that too the fight
with karate students(Is it karate?) fills us with
a sense of astonishment. It resembles me of
Jackie chan movies.By the way who is that
stunt master Peter Hayen? Is he new to kollywood.

Harris Jeyaraj is at his best.My colleagues
started commenting that even I recognize raga.
Yep,Iyangaaru veeta Azaghe is dulcet in
Naatai raga(remember Chennai Senthamil...song).
The picturisation of all the songs are feast to
our eyes.

Seems Shankar bounced back with a vengenance
after Boys. A strong message to the society,
with a very talented and commited actor on his
side and accompanied by veterans in the
respective field,Sabu cyril for art direction and
Sujatha for dialogues,he almost did it again.

Some of my friends keep telling that the movie
would have been good,had the first half
been a bit fast..

I dont believe in "First half is slow, second half is
good" kind of comments. The movie is good.

No, It is not a movie review

The only thing that is constant in this world is change.This seems to hold good w.r.t me and to my 2nd std studying cousin.We are the only two in our family who keep changing our allegiance to actresses.Once we were great fans of Manisha,then we switched our loyalty to Aishwarya Rai,then to Simran,Jyothika,Trisha,Asin. Ofcourse quite a rapid transition,but until last week,we were devoted fans of Nayanthara.

My sister keeps telling that we keep switching loyalties.
Alaas, she didn't know that the only thing that is constant
in this world is change!

Whenever I go to my native Dharmapuri,I see a mentally challenged person roaming in the streets near the bus stand.Ofcourse he gets food, which were given by the near by shop owners and the passers by,but the quality of life he lives is pathetic.I have seen him many days sleeping on the stairs of the shops even if it is raining,with almost no clothes.He becomes furious and uncontrollable when some miscreants or some school going children throws stone at him....Miserable.

My friend Balu and myself went to a saloon shop.This person is usually seen in that street.We were told that his name is kannapan.Seems the barber in the saloon knows kannapan and he also gives him food.

"why dont kannapan be taken to an asylum or some ashramam, probabaly he may have better quality of life",Balu told the barber.

"Better quality of life?"-barber

"we will arrange for that.And therez an ashram in bangalore,
which takes care of ..."

"Thambhi, he somehow(?) gets the food daily and he sleeps in the stairs of the shops,then what else he need"

We were startled by his stoic reply.

Then we went and spoke to a "relative" of kannappan.

"what do you mean by better quality of life?", kannapan's relative.

"No,If admitted to an asylum, atleast he can have good place to sleep and there are chances of recuperating", this is Balu

"He gets the food daily.then what else he need.
Is there a problem for both of you, if he is here",

"No, but.."

Then the door was closed.

I am unable to convince Balu, since he took great pains to get a police certificate, certificating kannapan as a destitute, a requirement the ashram people asked.

Even when we were boarding the bus to Bangalore that evening,he was pre-occupied with that incident.

I tried convincing him,"Machi, come on da, anyhow he gets the food for his living".

The answer which, even, I am not convinced with.

Film Review--Chandramuki

Starring : Superstar Rajinikanth, Jyothika, Nayanthara,Prabhu,Vadivel.

Mad applause erupted,hell broke loose,in a
Bangalore Multiplex, filled to brim with so
called decent,urbane,genteel people.
It all happened when Superstar entered the scene
in his latest movie Chandramuki. It speaks
the craze,the charm,the charisma,the Superstar enjoys.

Rajini is a psychiatrist, a role, which an ordinary
fan wouldn't have expected. The story is how
Rajini cures his friend Prabhu's wife Jyothika
who is having Multiple Personality Disorder.

Quite an eccentric story for Superstar's caliber
and his "larger-than-life" kind of image he has.
But Director Vasu handled the story in such a
way that Superstar's fans dont get disappointed
even though the storyline runs in the mainstream.

Vadivel is fast getting moulded to a persona
whose dominance in Tamil film industry is
inevitable.His own Madurai-slang and the way
he reacts to the witty circumstances is hilarious.

Nayanthara is beautiful,but Jyothika is the one
who steals the show for her exquisite acting.
I always argue that shez not only charming
but also a good actress, happy to know that
it has been proved again.

A Telugu song in a Tamil movie....thatz interesting!
Ra ra (telugu)song is quintessential of
Shuddha dhanyasi raga.
I think it is almost perfectly sandwiched on the raga.

My friend asked, is Chandramuki a remake of
Mani chithirataal or a remake of Aaptha mitra?.
Well, I retorted saying, it is Superstar's movie.

My friend keeps telling, one of the beautiful things
in life is watching a Rajinikanth's movie.Yes it is.
So...

It is my first review(?!) on a movie...
Hope you like this.

I usually argue with my hindi speaking friends that bollywood doesnt dare to take soft,elegant,non-skin revealing movies but I have been proved wrong for the second time!.
Yes, Black is of that kind.

Developing a script with a storyline of a blind and deaf girl(Rani Mukerjee)
needs extra-ordinary brilliance and story writing skills.Director Bhansali portrays himself as a story writer too.

Well, A.Bachan is the teacher of the violent,rude girl who is blind and deaf by birth who doesnt even know the gentle way of having food.He steps in her blind,mystic world, struggles a lot,to unravel her talents and he makes her to graduate from the college.Alas, but he is bed ridden with Alzheimers when she attires her Graduation suite.

The pondicheery girl who acted in Rani Mukerjee's childhood character will get her fifteen minutes of fame she deserves.

Rani Mukerjee would have been very happy for doing this character and her acting speaks a lot,if not the character itself!

I dont think it it necessary to comment on Amitabh's acting ....as bollywood people say, he is a superstar.

Cameraman Santhosh Shivan is the real hero.He seems to have mastered the art of creating magic with his camera and to mesmerise the audience with all those contrasting panoramic, picturesque scenes that blossoms in the 70mm screen in front of us.There are two kinds of technicians, Intellectuals and Magicians.Santhosh Shivan is a magician in his own field.

Just spend 3 hours, if you hadnt seen it ....
